If time or money prevents you from repainting the entire house, target areas with the most outdated or outrageous color schemes.
Do minor landscaping work: Your landscaping doesn't have to be drastic, especially since many people are unlikely to consciously notice what you've done. However, inexpensive flowers like petunias, snapdragons, and marigolds can go a long way towards making a home look both lived-in and inviting. And if you study real estate for sale in the surrounding area, you'll likely see that homes with nicer looking lawns fetch higher prices than those with unkempt lawns. While it may be a bit late to encourage a sparse lawn to grow, you can at least keep your grass neatly mowed while you wait for a buyer.
Declutter your home: Although having some furniture and personal possessions in a house can make it feel homey and inviting, too many belongings is a bad idea. Start packing away at least a portion of your pictures, furniture, and other items in your home. If you're not yet ready to move out of the home in question, consider getting a storage unit to keep your extra things in until you do move.
