Three Things To Remember About A Gated Community

Living in a gated community for the first time can seem like a much safer prospect. Only those who live inside of the community will be able to access the inside of the gates. if you are interested in a space with low foot traffic where it will be easier to get to know your neighbors, a gated neighborhood is a good prospect. Before you sign on the dotted line to purchase a home in a gated community, there are some things that you should know about the communities first. Here are a few things to remember before buying a home for sale in a gated housing complex.

One phone number may control visitors

A lot of gated communities will have a phone box for visitors to call in order to get inside. This means that you will have to provide a phone number for any visitors to call. If people in your family tend work often or if you all tend to be on the go, getting a home phone is a better idea for front gate control.  If you tend to let in cleaners, gardeners, or any other household help, you will need to use your cellular phone to operate the front gate calls.

Children may need help with the walking gate code

If your children live close to school and tend to walk home, they will also need to be able to get through the walking gate. If your children are too young to remember the gate code or if they cannot work the mechanism for gate entry, your children may not be able to walk home alone any longer. If your children would like the option to walk home, starting up a neighborhood adult meeting the children at the gate to let them in will be a good idea.

Patrol is common

One of the best things about gated communities is that they are typically very careful to keep residents safe. Gated communities often have patrols with their own security guards or they start a neighborhood watch program. If you have a family or if you tend to be away from your home for long periods of time, you will have someone else looking out for you and your property. Having a regular watch patrol will keep the neighborhood up to date of any ongoings and make sure that you feel in the loop in your neighborhood.
